Over the past five and a half years, we have shared with you our journey with Sparkes of Hope. As with any journey, we have changed and grown and hopefully gained some wisdom along the way. I (Izzy) am now 17 years old and I am heading to the University of Ottawa in the fall to study International Economics and Development. Jane is 16 and she is choosing her options for Grade 11 and looking forward to her graduating year of high school. We now fully comprehend how grateful we are to have been able, with no hesitation, to continue our education past elementary school. And we want to make this possible for the girls of Youth Upliftment International too. Sparkes of Hope wants to continue to support these deserving girls’ education, to make all of what their community and families sacrifice worthwhile. As we enter our sixth year, we are taking on something new. Sparkes of Hope’s next step is creating scholarships for the graduates of Youth Upliftment International to pursue their studies in high school. Sparkes of Hope scholarships will enable girls to attend high school and continue their studies to a level that was previously inconceivable.
Sparkes of Hope’s goal is to award 10 students with a Spark Scholarship and 3 young girls with a Future Leader Scholarship for the 2019-2020 school year. But we need your help! Join us in providing these deserving students with the gift of secondary education.
